WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — It's Westborough's first full week back from the holidays and time for focus to shift to the town's annual election. The final day to take out nomination papers is Friday, Jan. 11. The Westborough Public Library will also hold multiple events, including a night with author Stephanie Schorow. Monday, Jan. 7 

Fales School Council: 8:30 a.m. A meeting will be held in the Fales School principal's office. (Agenda)

Rec Karate Starts: Classes for ages 4-6 and 7-12 can be registered for online for $85. The classes are held at Metro West Martial Arts at 74 Otis St. 

Hockey: 4 p.m. Westborough High goes on the road to face Hopkinton at Navin Ice Rink.

Evening Book Discussion: 7 p.m. A discussion of the book "The Snowman" by Jo Nesbo will be held at the Westborough Public Library. 

Youth Commission Meeting: 7 p.m. A meeting will be held in the Westborough Youth and Family Services office of the Forbes Municipal Building. (Agenda)

Tuesday, Jan. 8 

Economic Development Committee Meeting: 8 a.m. A meeting will be held at the DPW classroom. (Agenda)

Swimming: 4 p.m. Westborough High will face Bromfield at Clark University Pool. 

Board of Selectmen Meeting: 6 p.m. A meeting will be held in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of Town Hall. (Agenda)

Author Stephanie Schorow: 7:30 p.m. Westborough Public Library presents an evening with author and journalist Stephanie Schorow. The author will present the latest in her series of books, "Drinking Boston: A History of the City and its Spirits." 

Boys basketball: 7 p.m. Westborough High will go on the road to face Hudson. 

Girls basketball: 7 p.m. Westborough high will host Hudson. 

Wednesday, Jan. 9 

Indoor track meet: 4 p.m. Westborough High boys and girls track will take on Quabbin at Wachusett High School's indoor facility. 

School Committee Meeting: 6 p.m. A meeting will be held in Room 21 of the Forbes Municipal Building. 

Hockey: 7 p.m. Westborough High will go on the road to face Groton. 

Gymnastics: 7:15 p.m. Westborough High will host Hudson at Mass. Gymnastics Center. 

Thursday, Jan. 10 

Alpine Ski: 4 p.m. Westborough High will compete in a league meet at Ski Ward Hill. 

Swimming: 4 p.m. Westborough High will take on Tynsgborough at Clark University Pool.

Friday, Jan. 11 

Nook Demonstration: 10:30 a.m. Westborough Public Library will offer a demonstration on how to use the Nook reader to download books from the library's digital catalog. For more information, call the library at 508-366-3050.

Zumba: 7 to 8 p.m. Adults can sign up for a weekly Zumba class. Admission is $65. Held in the Hastings Elementary School cafeteria.

Final Day For Nomination Papers: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to run in the town election must pick up nomination papers from the Town Clerk by the close of business Jan. 11. The papers must be returned with a minimum of 50 signatures by Jan. 15. 

Boys basketball: 7 p.m. Westborough High will host Nashoba. 

Girls Basketball: 7 p.m. Westborough High will go on the road to face Nashoba.
