What's Happening In Westborough This Weekend

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — It's homecoming weekend in Westborough despite the continued rain in the forecast

The weekend will begin with a special voter registration session for the upcoming town meeting, and will also include a blessing of pets at a local church.

Friday, Oct. 5

Special Voter Registration: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Per Massachusetts law, voters must be registered at least 10 days prior to participation in a town meeting. Friday will be the final day to make the deadline for the Oct. 15 meeting. Contact the Town Clerk's office for further information at (508)-366-3020.

Field Hockey: 4 p.m. Westborough High School (2-5) goes on the road to face Fitchburg. 

Girls soccer: 4 p.m. Wesborough High School (5-2-2) has gone six straight games without a loss and hits the road to face Fitchburg. 

Volleyball: 5:15 p.m. After dropping two out of its last three, Westborough volleyball (8-2) takes on defending state champion Marlborough for the second time this year. Westborough won the first matchup 3-0, ending a Marlborough 27-match winning streak in the process. 

Potluck Dinner/Family Service: 6 p.m. Beth Tikvah Synagogue at 45 Oak St. will host a potluck dinner in the Sukkah followed by a kabbalat Shabatt service at 7 p.m. People with last names beginning with A–M are requested to bring a main dish. Those with last names beginning with N-Z are asked to bring either a side dish or dessert. For more information, contact EJ Dotts.

Saturday, Oct. 6

WHS Homecoming: 11 a.m. Westborough High School is holding its annual homecoming festival, topped off with the homecoming football game at 1 p.m. This year's theme is America, and there will be several activities for those who attend. For more information, contact fredlu@gmail.com or asigel@charter.net.

Football: 1 p.m., Westborough (0-4) will host North Middlesex (1-3) in its homecoming football game with the hopes of grabbing its first win of the season.

Fall Cider Festival: 1 p.m. Julio's Liquors at 140 Turnpike Road in Westborough will be hosting a free tasting. 

Sunday, Oct. 7

Blessing of Pets: 3 p.m. Members of the community are invited to bring their pets and any animals — of any size or species — to be blessed at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 John St., Westborough. Participants also are welcome to bring a reminder of a deceased pet — a collar or other memento — or a stuffed animal. Please call (508) 366-4134 or go to the website for more information.
