WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Andrew Metzger and Gregory Waite, both 17, of Westborough have been selected to perform Jan. 20 with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras.
Metzger, on double bass, and Waite, on trumpet, will perform with the 113 other youth musicians alongside professional singers in a performance of the opera "Verdi's Rigoletto," according to a news release.
The one-time performance will take place at 3 p.m. at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University.
The performance will mark the sixth consecutive year the youth orchestra has accompanied a professional opera. The last four performances have sold out, according to the release.
"Widely regarded as one of the country’s finest youth orchestra programs, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras is recognized as a model music and arts education organization," said the release.
The orchestra involves more than 500 youth musicians from 120 communities throughout New England, said the release.
Tickets range from $30 to $40 and are available for purchase online.
