WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — After the program's success last March, Westborough Girl Scouts Kaleigh Wright and Bhargavi Ram plan to hold ReFoamIt again.
The program that encourages droping off all PS 6 styrofoams, which includes egg cartons, packing peanuts, takeout containers and coffee cups, was the girls' Silver Award project.
"When we made our Silver Award plan, we committed to ensuring that ReFoamIt comes to Westborough at least twice a year for five years," Bhargavi said in a statement.
The Silver Award is the among highest honors awarded in Girl Scouts. The girls chose to plan the Styrofoam drive because it takes hundreds of years for the material to decompose, if at all, they said in the statement.
The upcoming ReFoamIt drive is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Department of Public Works office on 131 Oak St. The Westborough Department of Public Health is sponsoring the drive, and it will be held in conjunction with the Westborough Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day.
