WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Strapped for time? A new service at Westborough's Stop & Shop will allow customers to order groceries online and pick them up at a time of their choosing.
The service, called Peapod, is being offered at no charge for a limited time. The service normally costs $2.95 per pick up.
"Our mission at Peapod is to save our customers time and money — and for many busy families, especially moms who are always on the go, a quick stop at our pick-up location on the way home is the most convenient option,” said President Andrew Parkinson in a news release.
Shoppers will be able to go through lists of items previously purchased by entering their Stop & Shop card number online, and will earn gas and rewards points the same as if shopping in the store.
Appointments for pickups can be made in one-hour intervals ranging from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
“We are excited about opening Westborough, the first pick-up location in the western suburbs of Boston,” Joe Kelley, president of Stop & Shop New England Division, said in the release. “The new Peapod pick-up service is a terrific addition to Peapod delivery, and we've received enthusiastic feedback from customers who have used the service."
