WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- Winter Storm Athena's precipitation is just beginning to fall in Westborough, and the National Weather Service is predicting winds gusting up to 26 mph.

The precipitation is predicted to be a rain/snow mixture around, and continue until about 8 a.m. Thursday, when it will turn back to rain.

The Winter Weather and Wind Advisories for Westborough will remain in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

Lieutenant Robert Fryer of the Westborough PD said they are monitoring for downed limbs that might be damaged from Hurricane Sandy, but that is nothing out of the ordinary.

"We're going to prepare as we would for a normal storm and see what happens," he said.

According to School Committee Chair Ilyse Levine-Kanji, tonight's scheduled School Committee meeting at the Forbes Municipal Building has not been cancelled.
