WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Barbara A. O'Neil–Bush of Westborough died Jan. 27, surrounded by family. She was 82.
Born Nov. 26, 1930, in Wollaston, Mass., she was the daughter of John L. and Alice M. Hartigan Dwyer. She attended St. Gregory Parochial School and graduated from St. Gregory High School.
Early in her career, O'Neil–Bush worked at Westborough State Hospital. She then raised a family. She was married to Paul J. O'Neil, who died in 1995. Her second husband, Francis G. Bush, died in 2007.
She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and a member of the Women of St. Luke and St. Luke's Senior Adults. A member of the Westborough Women’s Club, O'Neil-Bush volunteered at the Senior Center and Food Pantry and was a supporter of Abbey's House in Worcester.
O’Neil-Bush also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 12 children: Debora O’Regan, of Westborough; Brenda M. Elling, of West Stockbridge, Mass.; John O’Neil, of Housatonic, Mass.; Mary Crowley, of Wayland, Mass.; Joanne Lafferty, of Portland, Maine; Matthew O’Neil, of Millbury; Peggy Bush-Morse, of Swampscott, Mass.; Michael Bush, of Mount Desert, Maine; David Bush, of Columbus, Ohio; Mary Ellen Thoma, of Yarmouth, Maine; Barbie Bush, of Grafton; and Susie Bush, of Westborough; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, John L. Dwyer.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Britton-Summers Funeral Home in Westborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, at St. Luke the Evangelist Church. Burial at St. Luke’s Cemetery will be private.
