Obituary: James A. Hoogasian, 84

WORCESTER, Mass. - James A. Hoogasian, 84, a lifelong Worcester resident, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, Worcester.


Jim leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan K. (Schlickman) Hoogasian; his three children, James J. Hoogasian and his wife Margaret of Shrewsbury, Robert G. Hoogasian and his wife Vawnya of Holden, and Carol Aghavni Hoogasian and her companion Stephen O’Brien of Worcester; his brother, George Hoogasian and his wife Alice of Westborough;  his five grandchildren, David Hoogasian, Kelly M. Kelly and her husband Cyril, Robert Hoogasian, Jamie Larkin and her husband Stephen, and Liana Hoogasian; his three great grandchildren, Maeve, Alyssa and Scarlett. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Hoogasian.

Jim was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Garabed and Aghavni (Norhadian) Hoogasian. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. Jim proudly served his country during the Korean War, as a member of the US Army. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Jim spent his later working years as a machinist for the David Clark Company, Worcester. Jim loved to spend time with his family in Wells, ME and enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and was a wonderful cook.

Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
