WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - Joan A. E. Gresham, 73, of Westborough, died on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare- University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of Oscar L. Gresham.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Juli-Marie Gresham of Westborough; one son, Richard A. Gresham and his wife, Lujuana, of Fontana, CA and four grandchildren.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Emma (Johnson) Anthony. She was a graduate of Spellman College in Atlanta and earned a masters degree in physical education at Syracuse University.
Joan was a physical education teacher in Georgia, she then became a swim instructor at the Syracuse YWCA in New York. After moving to Westborough she worked as a tennis and swim instructor at the Worcester Swim Club. Most recently she worked as a property manager.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 13, at 10 a.m. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Wednesday, September 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
