WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Westborough police officer Brian Massey's cruiser was rear-ended early Wednesday morning while traveling on Route 9 east, Westborough Police said.
The driver of the 2010 Nissan that hit Massey was identified as Casandra L. Zelmer, 19, of Worcester. Police said Zelmer had "dozed off," leading to the accident, according to an investigation by Sgt. Peter Goodney.
Massey was treated at the scene and transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Zellmer was not injured in the crash, but was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle so as to danger, police said.
