WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — A man posing as a customer at a Westborough jewelry store Thursday snatched two rings from the owner's hand and fled to a waiting vehicle, police report.
The store owner got the plate number to the vehicle, a Mercury Mountaineer registered to a Leicester resident, police said.
The rings were later sold at a jewelry store in Shrewsbury and recovered by police. They were valued at $1,000 and $300.
The incident occurred at Town and Country Jewelers in West Meadow Plaza on Milk Street at about 1:44 p.m. Thursday, police said, while the owner was showing rings to the man.
An investigation by Detective Stephen Tompkins has identified a suspect, but his name was not released by police. The investigation is continuing.
