Traffic, Drug Offenses Down In Westborough, Burglary Up

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — It's a new year, and the Westborough Police Department has tabulated criminal statistics from the year that was.

Drug-related violations saw the largest percent decrease of any category, dropping 64 percent (from 61 to 22). Traffic violations were down 7 percent (660 to 615) from 2011.

The largest increase in 2012 came in breaking and entering cases, jumping 47 percent (57 to 84).

Westborough also had four cases of forcible rape in 2012, compared to zero in 2011.

  • Shoplifting: 22 (up by 5)
  • Theft from building: 17 (up by 11)
  • Theft from motor vehicle: 12 (down by 6)
  • Larceny: 134 (down by 17)
  • Motor vehicle theft: 12 (up by 3)
  • Counterfeit/forgery: 26 (down by 4)
  • Larceny (false pretenses): 47 (down by 24)
  • Credit card fraud: 22 (up by 12)
  • Vandalism: 104 (up by 4)
  • Drug violations: 22 (down by 39)
  • Weapons violations: 2 (down by 5)
  • DUI: 52 (down by 6)
  • Protective custody: 23 (down by 5)
  • Family offenses: 16 (up by 9)
  • Liquor law violations: 29 (down by 3)
