WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — A "snow emergency" will likely be announced for Westborough beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, the Police Department announced.
"Any vehicle found blocking snow removal will be tagged and towed," the department said on its Facebook page.
The police are also urging residents to check in with 1610 AM for updates and emergency messages throughout the storm.
A supply kit containing the following items is recommended:
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Portable radio or NOAA Weather Radio with extra batteries
- First-aid kit
- Essential prescription medicines
- Non-perishable foods
- Non-electric can opener
- Water (one gallon per person/per day)
- Baby items
- Extra blankets and sleeping bags
- Fire extinguisher
After the storm, police noted, it is important to follow safety procedures.
They recommend that residents stay off the roads as much as possible to allow for snow removal, dig out fire hydrants, avoid parking close to street corners, be aware of children playing in the street, make sure generators are properly ventilated and avoid downed wires.
