WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Sandy may be behind Central Mass., but Westborough police and fire personnel are asking for donations to aid those still affected during the holiday season.

According to press release from Police Chief Alan Gordon, donated items will go to those in New York and New Jersey "in desperate aid of assistance." Many homes in the area are still in need of repair or still don't have power.

"Thanksgiving is upon us and we cannot forget our fellow Americans in need," Gordon said.

Items requested include:

  • Blankets (new)
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Unopened cleaning supplies
  • Pet food
  • Bottled water
  • Diapers
  • Baby formula
  • New stuffed animals
  • School supplies

Donations can be made in the front lobby of the police station or at the fire department beginning Wednesday, Nov. 21.
