SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Three women's advocacy and pro-choice groups — NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee and the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts — have endorsed the re-election bid of state Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton).
"Sen. Eldridge has been a steadfast pro-choice voice in the state Senate and in this district," said Megan Amundson, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice. "We applaud his clear commitment to protecting privacy and promoting reproductive health.”
Added Christina Knowles, chair of the Mass. NOW PAC: “Senator Eldridge has been a staunch supporter of our key issues from the very beginning. He has consistently spoken up on behalf of women and girls, taking a lead on ensuring access to shelter and ending housing discrimination against victims of domestic abuse.”
Eldridge has served as a state senator since January 2009. Previously, he served as state representative for the 37th Middlesex District. He will face Republican Dean Cavaretta on Nov. 6.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of these three organizations,” Eldridge said. “As state senator, I have demonstrated my support for reproductive rights, and I will continue to be a strong advocate for women’s health, safety, and reproductive freedom.”
