WESTBOROUGH, Mass — A voter registration session will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the the town clerk's office in advance of Westborough's Aug. 7 Special Town Meeting.
The registration session is for anyone not already a registered voter in Westborough. Voters must be a U.S. citizen and must be at least 18 by Aug. 7, 2012.
For more information, call the clerk at 508-366-3020. Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Friday.
The Special Town Meeting will be held at Westborough High School. There are only two articles on the warrant, which was posted Tuesday. Both articles seek to provide tax incentives to businesses.
Article 1 would create an Economic Opportunity area at 200 Flanders Road and offer a 15-year TIF agreement with MicroChem. The company employs approximately 47 people in Newton and is planning on moving to Westborough and expanding to 70 employees, according to Town Manager Jim Malloy.
Article 2 would create an Economic Opportunity Area and 15-year TIF agreement with Danafilms, Inc., at 5 Otis St. The company employs approximately 62 people in Westborough and is planning to expand and add 20 jobs. However, it is also considering moving operations to Kentucky.
