Video: Westborough Mom Recounts Gun Violence To Boston Crowd

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — As the debate continues to rage across the country, Westborough mom Ilyse Levine-Kanji shared her story of why she stands firmly for common sense gun reform last Saturday to a crowd in front of Boston's State House. 

As can be seen in the above video, Levine-Kanji spoke about her losses to gun violence, including her murdered  grandfather, a boss and client, in two separate incidents.

The rally was held in conjunction with the About One Million Moms For Gun Control movement that also held a march in Washington, D.C. The movement sprang up after last month's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

Levine-Kanji , who serves as chair for the Westborough School Commitee, said she was reticent and nervous to share her story with the crowd but was encouraged by the support of "like-minded people," including legislators. She also noted the "positive energy" of the crowd, which she estimated to be about 300. 

State Rep. David Linski, a Democrat from Natick, also spoke about the gun control legislation he recently proposed. U.S. Rep Ed Markey, D-5th District, also attended the rally.
