WESTBOROUGH, Mass. —  Mark Stockman, Westborough's information technology manager, said he was speaking with IT personnel at Conservation Services Group in Westborough when it came up that they were looking to get rid of some old equipment.

"I was kind of like 'Really, they're only five years old?'",  Stockman told the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night. "The idea came up that they donate them to the town."

The board voted to accept the donation of 22 business-class laptops, which includes 14 Dell Latitudes and eight Panasonic Toughbooks. Stockman said the Toughbooks will be put to use by the Department of Public Works.

The board also said they plan to send a thank-you letter to Conservation Services Group, a company that promotes energy efficiency. Selectman Ian Johnson said CSG is a company that has been very active throughout town.

"This is just another indication of the work they've done for us," Johnson said.
