WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — With the deadline to return nomination papers around the corner, two challengers have emerged for town positions.
Danielle Carrigo, of 7 Westminster Way, has taken out nomination papers for a spot on the five-person Westborough School Committee.
Two seats are currently available, held by Bruce Tretter and Stephen Doret. Both have indicated they plan to run for re-election.
None of the three have returned nomination papers, which require 50 signatures from residents. They have until Tuesday, Jan. 15 to do so.
Board of Selectmen
Stephen Faris, of 192 Ruggles Street, has taken out nomination papers to run for one of the two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.
The seats available are currently held by Tim Dodd and board chair Leigh Emery, both of whom have indicated they will run for re-election. Dodd has already returned his nomination papers.
Incumbent Joanne Mallozzi has taken out nomination papers to run for re-election to the Planning Board. Hers is the only seat up for election in 2013.
Jill Dupree, of 19 Whitney Street, has taken out nomination papers to run for the three-year term on the Housing Authority.
She is the only potential nominee for the seat currently held by Charles Naples.
Naples has taken out nomination papers for the five-year term on the Housinh Authority. He would be taking the seat of Julie Pappazsis, who will not seek re-election.
Helena Engberg, of 14 Adams Street, has taken out and returned nomination papers for one of the open seats on the Westborough Public Library Board of Trustees.
There are three slots open on the board.
After the Jan. 15 deadline for nomination papers, candidates will have until Jan. 31 to remove their name from the ballot.
The town election will take place on Tuesday, March 5.
