WESTBOROUGH, Mass -- Westborough High School Spanish teacher Alyssa Achenbach proposed her plans for a school-sponsored trip to Europe at Tuesday's School Committee meeting, but due to a communication issue the vote for approval was pushed back.
The trip would be to Spain and the group would visit Barcelona and Madrid before returning home.
"I can't tell you the benefits of experiencing foreign language in a foreign community," Achenbach said to the committee.
The trip, which is expected to cost in the area of $3,600 per student, will be taken at the end of June. The trip would also be organized by Education First the same company helping to organize the school's trip to an environmental leadership summit in Costa Rica this year.
"We decided to stick with what worked," she said, noting a similar trip has been taken in the past.
The final cost will depend on the number of students interested. Achenbach said she has 17 students currently interested, and expects the final number to be from 10-12. The trip is available to all high school foreign language students.
The School Committee said once they receive and get a chance to review her written proposal, they will come back with a decision.
