WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — School liaison officer Chip Dapolite has seen his hours cut due to budget concerns, and School Committee members say they will work to maintain that position in any way possible.
"If we're losing money, I think we need to get creative," committee member Jody Hensley said. "That's a function we can't ignore"
Dapolite splits duty as a standard officer and school liaison for the Westborough Public School system. Dapolite works with the school, helping to handle issues ranging from bullying to theft, student conflicts and drug possession.
The School Committee is in the process of reviewing school budgets for all Westborough schools. It has heard from the elementary school principals, most recently getting reports from WHS principal John Smith, Athletics Director Johanna DiCarlo and FIne Arts Director David Jost.
On Monday, the committee will get a report on the special education, transportation and technology budgets.
