WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — After a dominant eight-game stretch, Westborough volleyball ran into a stone wall, losing for the first time in 2012, 3-0, to Notre Dame of Hingham.
"You've gotta learn," coach Roger Anderson said. "There's no growth without pain."
Now at 8-1 and undefeated in Mid-Wach play, Anderson said it's more important for his team to learn from the loss. Anderson said he intentionally schedules some of the state's strongest teams to ready the Rangers for the rigors of playoff volleyball.
"We certainly didn’t enjoy it tonight," he said. "If we don’t face this now, it’s definitely going to get to us late." he said.
All three games were hotly contested (25-21, 25-22, 25-19). Sam Kehoe (11 kills, 12 digs) and Tori Flahive (seven kills, 15 digs) led Westborough. Addie D'Luzansky also chipped in 15 digs in a strong defensive game.
Westborough will face Wachusett on the road Tuesday with an eye toward going undefeated through the first half of its Mid-Wach schedule.
