WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — The impending snowstorm hasn't been given a catchy nickname, but it has taken its first casualty in Westborough: no Friday night basketball games.
The Westborough boys and girls basketball teams have had their games against Groton-Dunstable moved up to Thursday at 7 p.m. to avoid complications from the storm.
The Westborough girls (7-7, 4-1) will host Groton-Dunstable, while the boys (10-6, 6-1) will travel to face the mid-wach B opponent.
For the boys squad, a win would put them on course for a showdown with Quabbin (9-5, 7-0) for a share of the conference title.
Westborough beat Groton-Dunstable 59-53 earlier this year and saw their only conference loss to Quabbin, 50-47, on Jan. 18.
"Out attention is to go up to Groton, take care of business in that game and then go out and take our chances for the league title," coach Brian Willar said after Tuesday's 63-62 win over Nashoba. "It's a matter of our guys again going out there and winning the games we need to win."
