It's nice to see this grand, old building being restored. It really is a beautiful building. Just stop and take a good look at it sometime! View Comment
I'll never figure out this infatuation with texting, let alone texting at the wheel. Why not just call? It's easier, and legal in most places if you use a hands-free setup. View Comment
Exactly. Instead of making up BS stories like self-defense, his attorney should be trying to get him some help. Tillison is lucky he didn't get blown away. Dirty Harry would've capped him! View Comment
Glad to hear that Officer Dejordy was treated & released and the suspect arrested. The only thing that would make a happier ending is if Tillison was admitted to the intensive care unit...or the morgue. But our police are true professionals, and here it shows! View Comment
I think these inmate work programs are a great idea. Hopefully, these inmates can build their skills, obtain work upon their release, and mend the errors of their past. It would be great if this program could be expanded to include a trade school education, or perhaps things like obtaining a commercial driver's license. A recent story in the Worcester Telegram indicated a severe shortage of truck drivers.
One suggestion - maybe the substance-abuse inmates should receive treatment while they're in the joint, instead of waiting until their release. (Unless they already do.) View Comment
I, too, used to feel that they are eager to hit the nuke button and cancel school. But, it's far better to not have school buses on the road and kids waiting at bus stops, or walking to school, where cars could slide into them.
It was a different story years ago because there were fewer cars on the road, and people actually knew how to drive. View Comment
Casinos are now a legal business in Massachusetts. Government's only concern is to ensure that the developers fund the needed infrastructure improvements to roadways, utilities, etc. View Comment
I'm willing to cut some slack, as there were snags after work began. However, with modern equipment and technology, I'd have expected it to be resolved a lot quicker. Last winter was very mild, and many weeks of work could have been done. I bet it didn't take this long to build the old bridge in 1925. View Comment
Don't know, you'd have to ask the town manager. I suppose they get a certain number of holidays every year. According to the schedule, they had Monday, Jan 2, 2012 as a holiday even though New Year's Day was on a Sunday. View Comment
Paid holiday, just as Christmas Eve day was. It's on the town website.

I went to Lauriann's with 3 friends this past Saturday. We arrived around 7 PM. There was only one other party in the dining room, and a few people at the bar. We were there over 3 hours, and no other customers came in while we were there, even though there were a couple of musicians performing (who were quite good, too!)
The food and service were great, and we had a good time.
Getting in & out is nowhere as difficult as it looks. Park on the right (north) side of the restautant, and exit via Hudson Ave to South Main Street, and this puts you back on Route 122. Very easy.
Please consider returning if you've been staying away due to the construction. Maybe the state could appropriate some funds for the workers to eat there. View Comment
