A holiday-weekend reset is coming after days of heat, humidity, and powerful thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service expects cooler, drier air to settle in through the holiday weekend. Saturday, Sept. 5, should be mostly sunny, with highs around 80 degrees.
Sunday, Sept. 6, will be cooler, with highs generally in the mid-70s.
New England will also turn mainly dry and pleasant. An isolated shower cannot be ruled out Saturday, but widespread rain is not expected. Beach conditions could become dangerous on Sunday and Labor Day due to an increased risk of rip currents.

Pregnant Woman, 24, Dies After Hair Gets Tangled In Go-Kart: 'Unforgettable Personality'
A pregnant woman and her unborn son died after her hair was tangled in a go-kart, according to reports.
Baylee Olivia Johnson died from her injuries at a hospital in Florence, South Carolina, on Monday, Aug. 31. The 24-year-old's hair became caught in a sprocket on the go-kart on Sunday, Aug. 23, according to the Sumter County Coroner.
Johnson was 15 weeks pregnant when the incident happened, her family told WIS News 10. She and her boyfriend had recently learned they were expecting a baby boy and planned to name him Johnny.

Power Outages Soar Past 100K After Severe Storms Slam Pennsylvania Again
More than 100,000 homes and businesses were without power across Pennsylvania on Friday, Sept. 4, after another round of severe storms brought destructive winds, torrential rain, flooding, and tornado warnings.
Approximately 102,700 customers remained in the dark Friday morning, more than twice the 43,000 reported Thursday morning and five times Wednesday afternoon’s total, according to PowerOutage.us.
The latest storms shifted the heart of the outage crisis to western Pennsylvania. The hardest-hit counties included:
