A Bergen County pizza spot is getting a fresh look and a new identity while keeping a longtime favorite alive.
Penelope's Pizzeria & Sports Bar will celebrate its grand opening Monday, Aug. 24, at the former Arlington Pizza location in North Arlington, Mayor Daniel H. Pronti said after attending a food tasting.
The new family restaurant, sports bar, and nightlife spot has been completely redesigned, according to the mayor.

The sudden death of a New Jersey mother has friends rallying around her children.
Cherilyn A. Molina, 49, died at her Hardyston Township home on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to her obituary on the Ferguson Funeral Home website.
Molina was raised in Teaneck and later moved to Ogdensburg, where she raised her children, Jayda and Damian, her obituary says. She worked for Movora in Whippany and enjoyed shopping, going to the beach, cooking, and traveling.

9 Westchester Beaches Closed Through Weekend Over Bacteria Concerns
Nearly a dozen beaches across Westchester County have been closed through the weekend after more than 3 inches of rain raised concerns about bacterial contamination in the water.
The Westchester County Department of Health announced the closures on Friday, Aug. 21, after 3.28 inches of rain fell over the previous 24 hours, according to county officials.

U.S. News & World Report has released its 2026-27 list of the best high schools in the country, with several Hudson Valley schools landing among New York's top 100.
